Last night, Apple released four new videos, including ads for the iPad mini with Retina Display and the iPad Air. One of those ads, Pencil, Apple used the width of a pencil as a reference point to just how light and magical the Air actually is.
If you paid close attention to the ad, though, you might have been surprised who voiced it: none less than Heisenberg himself, Bryan Cranston, also known as Walter White on TV’s Breaking Bad.
Here’s the ad. Pay attention to the voice:
Choosing an actor to narrate their commercial most commonly identified with the crystal methamphetamine trade is an odd choice for Apple, but there’s no doubt that Cranston, having just come off of Breaking Bad, is at the top of his game.
Nor is Cranston a stranger to voice-over work. He has also provided voices to Kung Fu Panda 3 and Batman: Year One. Previously, he provided the voice to the evil snakeman Snizard on the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers. Serious chops indeed.
