Microsoft this week added a new screen-blurring feature to the Skype app enables users on its video and voice service to blur the background during the video calling, in case they wouldn't like to share the scene behind them.
The screen-blurring idea comes to save you from confession because you’re skyping with your parent and the laundry scattered around you, or you're in a meeting with a potential investor and the plan on the whiteboard behind you need to be obscured, and other similar scenarios.
Background blur in Skype and Teams uses artificial intelligence (AI)—trained in human form detection—to keep you in focus during your call. This technology is also trained to detect your hair, hands, and arms, making a call with background blur just as relaxed and easy as a regular video call.
Microsoft mentioned that background blur in Skype is similar to that one in Microsoft Team, and also it resembles the “bokeh” effect we find on Portrait photo mode on recent iPhone models, but in Skype the background blur is being implemented on live video stream, the giant company it makes it easy for you with just “a simple toggle, right-click, or even through your Skype settings, your background will be instantly and subtly blurred.”
The Skype app is available on almost all operating systems platforms you can download it on the App Store for free.
