The last week Google has purchased the popular iOS and Android visual translation app Word Lens, the app that can instantly translate printed words it sees through your iPhone’s camera.
Google seeks through this deal to "incorporate Quest Visual's technology into Google Translate's broad language coverage and translation capabilities in the future", according to a statement on Quest Visual's website.
This service is remarkable and used by many world travelers, Apple was also impressed with the app, so was included in its recent advertisement "You're more powerful than you think" that promoted the iPhone 5s.
The app is now free, additionally translation language packs that were formerly available via in-app purchase are now free as well. The company didn't say how long the app will be available for free, so interested users should download it while it is available.
Compatibility: Requires iOS 6.1 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
