Apple Released First iOS 8.1 Beta to Developers, Among the Contents Hidden Settings for Apple Pay


Apple has released the first beta of iOS 8.1, oriented to registered developers for testing purposes. The beta arrives as build number 12B401. It came just a few days after the release of iOS 8.0.2, which fixed iOS 8 bugs and that introduced with previous iOS 8.0.1.

Apple has also released a new Apple TV beta and Xcode 6.1 beta 3.

Despite iOS 8.0.2 release there are some users who complained of some issues, like a bug that causes iCloud Drive documents to be deleted. So likely iOS 8.1 will includes several bug fixes in addition to support of Apple's mobile payments service that will launche in October, that what has confirmed from Developer Hamza Sood.

Sood has shared a screenshot of a hidden Settings pane for Apple Pay inside, this pane will empower users to manage their credit / debit cards linked to Apple Pay, and will define which card will be the default, in addition providing of necessary information; billing and shipping address, email, and phone. Apple Pay will depend on NFC connectivity snd Touch ID, so will be supported just by iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and Apple Watch. Sood has also turned up evidence suggesting upcoming iPad generation will include Touch ID and will support Apple Pay.


Along with iOS 8.1, Apple this time unlike the usual is actively testing other major iOS 8 updates, iOS 8.2 and 8.3, this info based on web server analytics, Apple typically test one of each iOS version, but new awaited products; Apple Pay, and Apple Watch may be the cause.
