You might have some photos shot on your iPhone or iPad for whatever reason you don't want to be bold on your Photo Library, at the same time you don't want to get rid of them permanently. Thankfully, the Photos app in your iOS device has an option to hide certain photos from the main library, the instructions below show you how.
Taking into account that these hidden photos won't appear in Photos or For You section in the Photos app but still accessible through the Albums section, if you're looking for more advanced security for your personal photos consider to give a try to a third-party app like Safe Lock.
How to hide your photos in Apple’s Photos app
- From the Home screen of your iPhone or iPad launch the Apple's Photos app.
- On the top right of your Photos app screen tap Select.
- Select the photos that you want to hide.
- In the bottom-left corner of the screen tap the Share button (a square with an arrow pointing up)
- In the available options in the Share Sheet tap Hide in the bottom row.
- Then confirm the process by tapping on the prompt that appears at the bottom of the screen.
Now, these photos you have chosen to hide will no longer appear in the photo library, but they are accessible from Albums tab saved in an album called Hidden.
How to unhide your photos in Apple‘s Photos app
- Again from the Home Screen of your iOS device launch the Photos app.
- At the bottom of the screen of the Photos app tap the Albums tab.
- Scroll down and under the Other Albums section tap Hidden.
- On the top right of the screen tap Select.
- Select the pictures you want to unhide.
- On the bottom left corner of the screen tap the Share button.
- Among the available options on the Share Sheet, there is Unhide button tap it.
