The estimated iPhones shipped in China in 2018 were 34.2 million down from 36.7 million in 2017, this data shared last week by Strategy Analytics.
Apple shipped during the fourth calendar quarter of 2018 (Apple first fiscal quarter) about 10.9 million iPhones down from 14 million during the same period of 2017.

Even though, the slight year-over-year advancement when it comes to the market share, Apple remains behind major Chinese smartphone vendors in the county, which are Huawei, Vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi.
Total smartphones shipped by all vendors in China in the fourth quarter estimated 107.9 million units down from 121.3 million in the same quarter of 2017, the ratio fell down by 11 percent, this percentage number also reiterated annually in China, with 408.5 million units sold in 2018 down from 459.6 million in 2017.
Generally, the smartphone shipments have diminished for five sequential quarters in China, Apple has been deeply affected. Apple recently downgraded its first 2019 fiscal quarter revenue (fourth calendar quarter) from $89 to $93 billion estimated in November to $84 billion, the China market has been attributed as the main reason among others by the Cupertino company.
Holiday quarter was the worst Apple's performance quarter since early 2017 as Strategy Analytics Director Linda Sui mentioned. In China iPhone shipments have dropped for 8 of 12 quarter in-year-over-year basis.
Apple has been under pressure in China for the past three years. Ongoing patent battles with Qualcomm are a distraction, while Apple is being heavily criticized for its expensive retail prices.
