set up hey siri in your AirPods

On Wednesday, Apple in a press release launched the second generation of its AirPods, the new earbuds come with long-promised wireless charging case, powered by Apple designed H1 Chip, enabling hands-free “Hey Siri” feature, and up to 50 percent more talk time compared to the first generation.

The H1 Chip in the new AirPods should speed up switching between the iPhone, iPad, or Mac up to two times faster according to Apple, the connection time for the phone calls is now up to a 1.5x faster, and gaming latency is lower up to 30 percent.

Instead of tapping the AirPods stem in the older version, hands-free “Hey Siri” enables new AirPods users to make a call, change a song, adjust the volume, get directions, and more.

The second-generation of AirPods provides three hours of talk time compared to up to two hours in the original ones, while the other usage durations remain the same with five hours of listening time per charge and a backup charges of more than 24 hours battery life stored in the charging case.

The new AirPods are available only in white color as the previous generation and have the same outward design and dimensions.

The new AirPods are available to order on Apple.com and the Apple Store app, the price is at $159 as the original generation with wired charging case, but with the wireless charging case, the price goes to $199. Starting next week, both choices will be available on Apple retailer stores and some third-party resellers.

The new wireless charging case is also able to charge the first-generation AirPods, Apple buys it individually for $79, the case has a LED light indicator on the front of it informing users about the charge status.

The tech specs say the new AirPods to function properly require devices running iOS 12.2, watchOS 5.2, or macOS 14.4, all these Operating Systems are currently in beta, which means the official release of these updates will be next week alongside the new AirPods shipping.
