Apple on June 3 at its WWDC keynote announced a new iOS, iOS 13, which is a major update, Apple highlighted many of the iOS 13 features on the stage, which were many such as performance improvements, faster Face ID, a system-wide Dark Mode, Sign In with Apple, tweaked photo editing tools, swipe-based keyboard, and more, you can take a look at them by clicking here.
These prominent new features were not the only editions that Apple equipped in iOS 13, the new update features tons if not hundreds of small changes and tweaks, in this post we collected a comprehensive list of these features that Apple didn't mention to them during keynote event.
-Silence Unknown Callers: When you are in the Phone section of the Settings app there is an option if you toggle it on will allow you to block unknown callers, which will let you cut down spam calls or robocalls that you're receiving.
-Low Data Mode: In the Cellular section of Setting app there is an option to active Low Data Mode, which says it helps apps on your iPhone reduce their network data use, there is another Low Data Mode can be enabled for specific Wi-Fi networks.
-Block Senders in Mail: Apple extended the blocking availability to the Mail, now you can block contacts, phone numbers, and people from sending you an email, in iOS 13 there's an option for blocking contacts in Mail, and ignoring blocked senders.
-Thread Muting in Mail app: If you select a message in the Mail app and then choose more there is a new option to mute the thread so you won't get notifications when a new message in that thread is received.
-Improved Messages Search: When you sweep down to search in the Messages app there is a new interface with suggested contacts and links that have been sent. Searches bring up the most recent results, with an option to see more by tapping "See All."
-Reading Goals in Books: Books app gains a new Reading Goals feature that tracks of how long you have read each day, the app encourages you to read on a daily basis, see your stats soar, and finish more books.
-Notes Folder Management: Notes app with iOS 13 has new tools for managing your folders, taping "..." icon will bring up options like Add People, Move This Folder, Rename, and View Attachments.
-Location Settings: Apple with iOS 13 reduced location access, as it's mentioned during the keynote, now there is a new option in the Settings app requires an app to ask every time it wants to access your location.
-Wi-Fi Options in Control Center: Right from Control Center you can change Wi-Fi networks, but it could be a little bit tricky, you need a long press in the middle of the WiFi/Bluetooth widget to show up the extended options, then Force Touch the Wi-Fi icon to bring up a menu of available networks.
-Bluetooth Options in Control Center: As we saw with Wi-Fi, you can access a list of your available Bluetooth devices from Control Center too. Long press on the middle of the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth widget to bring up the extended options, and then Force Touch on the Bluetooth icon to show you a list of Bluetooth devices that you have connected before.
-PS4/Xbox Controller support: Apple said PS4/Xbox One S controllers support for Apple TV, but these controllers will also be supported on iPhone and iPad.
-New Animoji: Apple added three new Animojis in iOS13, which are: a cow, an octopus, and a mouse. As mentioned on the stage Memojis gains tons of new accessories, which could add to your Memoji, there are also new Memoji stickers, which could see when you tap the emoji section of your iOS keyboard.
-Separate Emoji and Globe Keys: To enter the emoji section of your iOS keyboard is no longer available with the same globe key that lets you switch between languages, the emoji key is now located beside the number key, and the globe key is bellow, while in iOS 12 long press on one key swapped between functions.
-Automatic Safari Tabs Closing: In iOS 13 there's an option in the Safari section of the Settings app to automatically close all the tabs that you have opened in Safari, so you can set it to close your tabs in a day, a week, a month, or just leave it on manual, which is how it currently works.
-Attachments in Calendar: In your Calendar app with iOS 13 you can add attachments such as documents to events you have scheduled.
-Safari Screenshot: When you take a screenshot in Safari now there is a new option to save it as a full page turning the webpage into a PDF file that you can save or share, you can also edit it with Markup sending.
-App Updates: to update apps in iOS 13, you should open up the App Store, tap on your profile then head to Pending Updates section to choose the app you want to update before there was an updates tab, but in iOS 13 has been removed in favor of Apple Arcade tab.
-Updated Mute Switch: When you toggle the mute switch on your iPhone in iOS 13 there is a new interface that lets you know if the Silent Mode is on or off, it is located at the top of the display instead of the middle of the display in iOS 12.
-Optimized Battery Charging: The battery gains a new Optimized Battery Charging feature in iOS 13, Apple described the feature as that your iPhone learns from your daily charging routine so can wait to finish charging past 80 percent until you need to use it, this process will help to cut down on battery aging.
-Home app Improvements: HomeKit devices in the Home app in iOS 13 feature revamped and streamlined control options that vary according to the device, generally, the offering options show according to what you use or check frequently (like various light color.) The controls are now shown in a card-style view enabling you to return to the main Home app screen easily just by swiping them away.
-AirPlay 2 Devices in HomeKit Automation: HomeKit automation can now include AirPlay-supported devices enabling users to set music to play when they arrive home.
-Photos Zoom: In iOS 13 Photos App gained a new +/- symbol at the top, taping it enables you to zoom in and out of your Photos tab, pinch gestures also allow you to zoom in and out.
-Business Chat Suggestions: When you initiate a calling with a business that has business chat, your iPhone will offer you to start a business chat instead so you can interact with a business from a text message instead of a phone call.
-Time Synced Lyrics in Apple Music: In iOS 13 lyrics in Apple Music are presented synced with music, the lyrics will scroll along as the song goes, at the bottom of any song interface in Apple Music there is now a lyric icon enables you to access the lyrics of that song.
-Up Next in Apple Music: iOS 13 brings up to Apple Music a new toggle allows you to see what is next up when playing a song, so there's no secrecy as to what's going to play after the ongoing song.
-Apple News+ app in the Stock app: in iOS 13 Stock app will present relevant business publications from Apple News+.
-Voice Memos: Voice Memos app has now a new pinch to zoom gesture allowing you to zoom in on waveform to make editing easier.
-Do Not Disturb: In iOS 13 Do Not Disturb While Driving will not activate when you're using public transit.
-Peek Gestures: Peek gestures that enable you to see a preview with emails, messages, links, and more are now supported by any iPhone or iPad running iOS 13 or iPadOS, the feature before was limited to devices that are equipped with 3D Touch.
-Quick Actions: As with Peek Gestures, Quick Action was also limited to the devices with 3D Touch, but now the feature is available on all devices to run iOS 13 or iPadOS, Quick Actions feature lets you when to press on a specific app icon, to take quick action.
-Dolby Atmos Playback: In iOS 13 all 2018 iPhones and iPads support Dolby Atmos playback.
Personal Hotspot Sharing: If you have activated Family Sharing now with iOS 13 your family members will access your personal hotspot automatically.
-Automatic Personal Hotspot: When no internet connection is available, you can now connect to your iPhone's personal hotspot automatically, with an option keeps you connected even if your device is asleep so you can continue to receive messages and push notifications.
-Popular Wi-Fi Networks: Your iPhone with iOS 13 will define which Wi-Fi networks are being used and lets you know if one is available.
-Delete Apps from Updated screen: With iOS 13 is installed, in App Store, you can delete apps from the list of apps that are prepared to be updated by swiping to the left on them.
-Timer: Timer in the Clock app has gained a new interface in iOS 13 when the timer initiates to count down, there's a new circle that slowly depletes, along with the standard timed countdown.
-New Volume HUD: The volume interface in iOS 13 has gained a new look, which is designed to be less obtrusive, it's a bar appears on the left or the right side of the display, when you continue to press the volume up or down the bar begin to shrink down, in addition to the physical volume buttons, you can also touch the bar with a finger to adjust sound with a swipe.
-Haptic Feedback for Face ID: In iOS 13 there is a Haptic Feedback for Face ID if it is activated will cause your iPhone to vibrate slightly when Face ID is unlocked, it can be activated by following the path: Settings > Accessibility > Face ID & Attention.
Note: iPad now has its own dedicated operating system (iPadOS), and all of these features are also available in iPad and part of the new iPadOS.
The iOS 13 is currently available for registered developers, and in July it will be available for public testers, while the official release of iOS 13 will be in September alongside the launch of 2019 iPhone lineup.
