Largan Precision is a company that currently supplies iPhone camera lens, now it is developing a special black coating for front-facing phones camera lens as discovered by analyst Jeff Pu at Chinese investment firm GS Securities.

Pu shared his research note in Taiwanese publications Economic Daily News and MoneyDJ, claiming the one or two smartphone makers could adopt this technology as early as 2020 since Apple already dealing with Largan he speculated the coating could be applied in the future iPhones.
The two translated versions of publications mentioned to the coating as a way to conceal the camera lens. Economic Daily News says the coating would allow the front-camera lens to “completely disappear,” MoneyDJ says the coating will be “pure black” eliminating small spots we found in the notch on the iPhone X and newer.

Cosmetic aspect is a very considered issue in Apple industry, the current front-facing camera lens almost invisible but does in certain light and angle conditions, adding this coating would perhaps make the lens completely invisible to the eye.

Apple design chief Jony Ive has already expressed his desired goal to make the iPhone looks like a single sheet of glass, like these little steps could lead toward that goal. This rumor has emerged for the first time so we should deal it with skepticism.
