Apple will hold a special spring event on March 25 at Steve Jobs Theater, according to a report shared by BuzzFeed News on Tuesday, the Apple’s upcoming News subscription service is the focal subject without any hardware announcement.
The much rumored and anticipated devices like AirPods 2, iPad mini, the 10-inch 7th-generation iPad, are unlikely to be announced according to the report, and the Apple’s streaming video service is unobvious if it will make an appearance or not.
Unlikely to make an appearance: next generation AirPods, or that rumored new iPad Mini.Just a few hours before the BuzzFeed New post a report from The Wall Street Journal unveiled how Apple intends to deal with its news subscription revenue, which it is seeking 50/50 split, the half for Apple and the other half would be split among the publishers but many of them denied like that offer.
Sources described the event as subscription services focused, but declined to say anything about Apple’s standalone video streaming service which is also rumored to debut in 2019.
The Apple’s News subscription service is said to cost $10 per month allowing users to unlimited access to paywalled content on sites like the Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. Apple is also planning to release a magazine subscription service, but it's unclear if it will a standalone service or it would be bundled with the News service too.
Apple is said to be planning to announce an upgraded TV app allowing to subscribe to the third-party services through it, like HBO Now, the feature will launch in mid-April or early May according to the last month report. It is unclear if that service will be unveiled at the March event or not.
Hours before the BuzzFeed news a supply chain report claimed that March 29th is the day when Apple will release the second version of AirPods and the new iPads, contrasted with BuzzFeed News saying the hardware announcements are off the list, however, that now seems improbable.
Apple has held events in March in 2015, 2016 and 2018, the last year event is focused on iPad and apps for education.
Update: A new report from Bloomberg suggested that Apple's March 25 event will also include the release of the rumored TV service, Hollywood stars such as Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner, and JJ Abrams are invited to attend the event.
